Denise Lee Richards was born in Downers Grove, Illinois on February 17, 1971 to parents Joni, a coffee shop owner, and Irv Richards, a telephone engineer. She is of Welsh descent because of her father's and of Croatian descent on her mother's side.
She was raised a Catholic and has one sister, Michelle. Denise Richards grew up in both Mokena and Downers Grove, Illinois and in 1989 graduated from El Camino High School in Oceanside, California. She was the "only girl on the baseball team" as a child.
Before being an actress, Denise Richards was signed by the Judith Fontaine Modelin
g & Talent Agency as a model. She spent the majority of the 1990s appearing in lower-budget films and TV shows such as "Saved by the Bell", television movies, and guest starring in episodes of several television shows such as "Married with Children" in 1991, a 5 second walk through.
